Miles Lackey, Chief Financial Officer

On July 1, 2016, Miles Lackey became the Chief Financial Officer overseeing the finance division, which includes the university’s budgeting, treasury and accounting operations. Lackey has been the chief of staff to Iowa State University President Steven Leath since 2012. As chief of staff, he coordinates many of the day-to-day functions of the Office of the President and provides oversight of institutional budgeting, university marketing, federal government relations, and equal opportunity and compliance functions. He also plays an active role in many of the economic development and expansion efforts at the Iowa State University Research Park. 

Before coming to the University, Lackey served as director of federal government relations for the University of North Carolina System. He holds a master's degree in business administration from UNC-Chapel Hill, a master's degree in public administration from George Mason University, and a bachelor's degree in political science from Lenoir-Rhyne University.
